CFL Light bulbs

Compact fluorescent Lights, CFls, have been sold to the consumer as a real solution to reducing energy consumption. Here is the real truth;

CFLs are a hazard to the environment;

  • CFLs contain mercury which is a hazardous material requiring extensive clean up and disposal guidelines
  • Most CFLs are being thrown away with the trash ending up in our landfills causing a serious environmental problem
  • CFLs when broken create a serious health risk in both the home and work place

CFLs do not save as much energy or produce as much light as labeled;

  • CFL’s use ballast. These harmonic ballast use an additional 18-60% more wattage that the bulb itself
  • Over time the light output of a CFL will decrease thus creating a shorter lifespan than advertized
